It kicks off at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg on Thursday at 17.45 UK time (18.45 CEST).
The Rossoneri are playing catch-up after a dismal 2-0 home defeat to Benfica , with Serie A performances not boosting confidence either.
There is already pressure growing on the former Manchester United coach to deliver, but he is trying to put the media discussion out of his mind.

We are at the start of something, obviously we want to win more games and have more points. With regards to the rest, it’s normal at a big club,” Amorim told Sky Sport Italia.
“Every project needs time, but nowadays with football media it is impossible to have a lot of time, so it is necessary to win games. I am not worried about that, I am focused on winning games, everything else that happens around that is not a concern.”
RB Salzburg opened their Europa League campaign with a 1-0 victory away to Levski Sofia and are feeling confident going into their first home fixture.
Despite it not being the most prestigious tournament, Amorim insists Milan need to treat it like the biggest test.
“It is always the Champions League, everything is important, every detail, every match is important and difficult. Salzburg are good technically, so we need to be strong on the runs, physically prepared and play our game.”
ITALY – SEPTEMBER 16: AC Milan coach Ruben Amorim looks on during the UEFA Europa League 2026/27 League Phase MD1 match between AC Milan and SL Benfica at Stadio San Siro on September 16, 2026 in Italy. (Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images) He was asked how the Rossoneri players are dealing with the growing tension around them this season.
“The team is fine, of course they felt the silence after the game, but we have so many games that we cannot think about the past, we have to focus on the next match, we are going to try to win the game and do everything we can.”
Goncalo Ramos has started all seven matches so far this season, but there are rumours Francesco Camarda will take over in attack tomorrow.
“Camarda is training well, tomorrow will be another opportunity, I won’t tell you if he will start or not, but as I said he will have more minutes from now on. We have a lot of games and will need everyone,” added Amorim.

“We have many options, I don’t know when everyone will have their space, but we have to rotate and sometimes everyone needs a little bit of luck too.”

What happened
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim was asked about links to AC Milan during a press conference. He indicated that timing made a move to the San Siro impossible, but stressed he refuses to think about the past and remains focused on his current role. The comments come amid ongoing speculation about his future at Old Trafford following a difficult start to his tenure in England.
Chance analysis
Amorim's remarks close the door — for now — on any immediate departure to Serie A, but the fact that the question is being asked at all underscores the pressure surrounding his spell at Manchester United. By framing the Milan link as a timing issue rather than a rejection, he leaves the door slightly ajar while signalling commitment to his current project. For United supporters, the priority is whether the on-pitch results catch up with the manager's ambition before patience runs out.
Stability for Manchester United's setup; Milan search elsewhere for their next permanent manager.
