It is reported the fee is in the region of €10m, after the first €8m bid was rejected.
Transfer pundit Romano claims a verbal agreement has now been reached with both Estudiantes for the transfer, and Amondarain for personal terms.
He should be flying in for his medical tests and to sign the contract this weekend.
The 21-year-old talent is under contract with Estudiantes until the end of December 2028, having come up through their youth academy to join the main squad last year.
