Fiorentina right-back Dodo is emerging as the most likely candidate for Inter now that Chelsea beat them to Marco Palestra, but there is also interest from Napoli.

The Nerazzurri were all set to spend €45m plus €5m in add-ons to get Palestra from Atalanta, only to be massively out-bid by Chelsea last night at €60m including bonuses.

Dodo is only under contract with Fiorentina until June 2027 and negotiations for a renewal have been difficult.

With that in mind, the price-tag is said to be around €15m, which is considerably cheaper than Palestra.

Once again, Inter are not the only club interested in his services, as Dodo is also seen as an option for Max Allegri’s Napoli.

Their first choice would be Anan Khalaili of Union Saint-Gilloise, so the Brazilian is a back-up choice.

The 27-year-old was purchased from Shakhtar Donetsk for €15.4m in 2022 and in the current campaign he notched up two goals with three assists in 47 games for Fiorentina.

What happened

Inter are evaluating Dodo as a potential reinforcement after their defeat to Palestra. The Brazilian is seen as a strong option to strengthen the squad, but competition for his signature is fierce, with Napoli also expressing interest. The situation suggests Dodo could be a target in the upcoming transfer window as both Serie A clubs look to bolster their ranks.

Chance analysis

Dodo being pursued by two top Serie A clubs signals strong market demand for the player. Inter's interest appears partly driven by a need to respond to a disappointing result, which could accelerate their transfer activity. Napoli's parallel interest may drive up the price and create a bidding scenario, meaning Inter may need to act quickly to secure the player.

Impact

Dodo's potential transfer would strengthen whichever Serie A club signs him, with Inter's interest being reactive to recent poor results.

AI Insight

If Dodo joins Inter, expect a defensive boost; if he joins Napoli, it could shift Serie A competitive balance.
