Genoa win race for Meichtry Franz-Ethan Meichtry (Instagram @ethan.meichtry) Fabrizio Romano, Sky Sports Deutschland reporter Florian Plettenburg , Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio and more all report it is a done deal, with only the medical tests left to be completed.

Those are scheduled for Tuesday, and he will then sign a contract with Genoa to June 2031.

Meichtry plays primarily as a central midfielder, but can also work on the left or right side of midfield.

A product of the Thun youth academy, he scored eight goals with three assists in 35 Swiss Super League appearances this season.

According to Primo Canale, the total cost of the transfer including add-ons will be around €4m.

What happened

Genoa have completed a transfer for Swiss prospect Meichtry, winning the race ahead of Galatasaray. The deal is described as a 'done deal,' indicating the transfer has been finalized. Meichtry is identified as a Swiss talent, suggesting he comes from the Swiss football system. Genoa, currently playing in Serie A, have added a young player to their squad. The competition from Galatasaray highlights the growing market for emerging Swiss talent among top European and Turkish clubs.

Chance analysis

Genoa landing a Swiss talent ahead of Galatasaray is a moderate market move — likely a youth or developmental signing given the competition dynamics. For Serie A side Genoa, adding young talent is consistent with their player trading model, which often involves buying low and developing. The defeat of Galatasaray in the race signals Genoa's improved scouting reach. This is unlikely to have immediate first-team impact but may affect squad depth and future transfer market value.

Impact

Genoa strengthen their youth pipeline with a Swiss prospect, beating out Galatasaray in a low-to-medium impact transfer.

AI Insight

Genoa have added a young Swiss player; expect minimal immediate impact on Serie A match predictions but note for future squad depth and market value growth.
