Inter CEO Piero Ausilio admits there is ‘a big gap’ with Liverpool’s valuation of Curtis Jones, while going cold on Oumar Solet and Eduardo Camavinga. ‘We have to be realistic.’

The Nerazzurri chief was speaking at an event in Rimini this evening to mark the opening of the Serie A transfer market, so held several different interviews.

(Photo by Jack Thomas/Getty Images) It is no secret that Inter are pursuing Liverpool midfielder Jones, but even though his contract only runs to June 2027, the price-tag is not dropping below €40m.

“I never denied our interest in this player, we had also tried for him in January, but I must also be equally honest here and say he’s a player with characteristics we’d like, but at this moment there is a big gap between our valuation and that of Liverpool,” said Ausilio.

“Seeing as he is a Liverpool player, they have every right to ask what they want, but we too have the right to say if we accept or not. At this moment, I can say it is a very difficult operation to see through to the end.”

The proposal for Jones is around €25m, a massive difference from the €40m that Liverpool are asking for.

“Solet, like many other players, can be an opportunity, but he is not the only one. Besides, I am by no means certain he can be the right one for us, let’s just calmly see what the transfer market brings, but we are in no rush and can begin pre-season with the squad we have.

“We do intend to sign two new defenders, though.”

What Ausilio did confirm was that there was “absolutely no interest” in Roma midfielder Niccolò Pisilli.

When asked about Real Madrid midfielder Camavinga, Ausilio let out a sigh of frustration.

“We must be realistic, there are some players who can be taken into consideration, and others who cannot. We know Camavinga’s transfer value and his salary, so it is not feasible.”

What happened

Inter Milan are reportedly 'realistic' about the challenges of signing several of their priority targets. Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid, Oumar Solet, and Jones are all on the radar, but financial and competition factors complicate potential moves. The club appears to be assessing which deals are feasible given their budget and the asking prices involved. The article frames these pursuits as difficult but not abandoned.

Chance analysis

For Inter, the practical acknowledgment of difficulty on three targets suggests the club is likely to pivot to alternative options in the transfer market. Camavinga would be a high-value midfield acquisition but Real Madrid's reluctance to sell makes it unlikely. Solet and Jones represent more accessible but still challenging targets depending on asking clubs' demands. This signals Inter may need to prioritize one or two moves rather than pursuing all three simultaneously.

Impact

Inter's squad planning is constrained, reducing the likelihood of significant reinforcement from these three targets and potentially weakening their competitive position.

AI Insight

Inter are unlikely to complete moves for Camavinga or Solet in this window; expect alternative, lower-cost targets to emerge as priorities.
