Juventus beat Parma 2-0 with inspirational Nico Gonzalez display

Nico Gonzalez came off the bench and sparked Juventus into life for a 2-0 victory over Parma, scoring one and instigating another for Teun Koopmeiners, but Jonathan David was jeered.

The Bianconeri won the opener 1-0 away to Frosinone, but lost Kenan Yildiz for three months to a broken metatarsal, with Weston McKennie, Khephren Thuram and transfer-listed Edon Zhegrova also out of action. Jhon Lucumi got his first start for the club , with Jonathan David used in a trequartista role. The Ducali lost at home to Cagliari and lost Hans Nicolussi Caviglia to surgery this week.

There was another opportunity for Douglas Luiz, a weak header straight at the goalkeeper from the Kalulu cross, but Lucumi almost scored on his debut when volleying over from a smart corner kick routine and dinked Jeremie Boga assist.

David also failed to keep his shot down after a poor clearance, prompting jeers from the frustrated crowd, then Kolo Muani scuffed wide after a sensational Conceicao nutmeg to get away from Emanuele Valeri.

Nico Gonzalez made an extraordinary impact, as moments later he unleashed a shot from a huge distance that cannoned off the upright, it ricocheted back into his path and the second attempt went in off Mariano Troilo.

Kolo Muani completed a give and go with Nico Gonzalez to force another Corvi save, then nodded the resulting corner over the bar from six yards.

His replacement scored moments later, as Teun Koopmeiners drilled into the far bottom corner from just inside the area on a Manuel Locatelli lay-off, after Nico Gonzalez had caught Konate napping playing out from the back.
