Milan are still in the fight for Greek international teenager Konstantinos Karetsas, as KRC Genk turned down the latest Borussia Dortmund offer of €30m plus add-ons, setting the price at €40m.

The Rossoneri were trailing in this transfer race , as Borussia Dortmund sent representatives to Belgium for in depth negotiations with the club.

(Photo by Lars Baron/Getty Images) According to Sky Sports Deutschland reporter Patrick Berger , the most recent proposal was worth €30m plus a further €5m in add-ons, and a 20 per cent cut of the future sale fee.

However, it was rejected, as Genk are holding out for €35m plus €5m in add-ons, and it doesn’t seem for now as if Borussia Dortmund are going to make an improved bid.

This lets Milan know what they must do in order to get an agreement over the line, namely offer €40m including add-ons.

The creative midfielder is also on the radar for Galatasaray and Paris Saint-Germain after a season where he contributed three goals and 18 assists in 49 competitive games.

Karetsas came up through the KRC Genk youth academy and had represented Belgium at various youth levels before being called up for the senior Greece squad.

What happened

AC Milan are pursuing Borussia Dortmund's young forward Karetsas, but the Bundesliga side has set a €40m asking price that the Serie A club is reportedly hoping to negotiate down. The negotiation centers on whether Dortmund will soften their stance on the valuation of the highly-rated youngster. With the transfer window active, Milan's sporting directors are exploring whether a compromise figure can be reached. The deal would represent a significant investment in young talent for Milan.

Chance analysis

Karetsas is considered one of the top young attacking talents in European football, making this a high-value potential move. Milan's willingness to engage at €40m (and hope for a reduction) signals strong belief in the player's potential upside. For Dortmund, a sale at full price would represent excellent value for a developmental asset. This type of signing affects Milan's long-term attacking depth rather than immediate first-team impact.

Impact

If completed, the signing would boost Milan's attacking options with a promising young talent, while Borussia Dortmund would lose a highly-rated prospect from their development pipeline.

AI Insight

Monitor whether the Karetsas transfer completes before the window closes, as it could affect Milan's attacking squad depth and future lineups.
