He was meant to be at pre-season training earlier this month, then a statement was released noting that he had red tape issues returning to Italy.

“We are continuing to call Banda in for his medical tests, but receive no reply. We’ll see how long this goes on for. What we can be certain of is that he will pay the consequences for his behaviour.
“It is an understatement to say that we feel let down. We have always been very supportive of Lameck, including in some personal matters. This is why his behaviour has surprised us all.”
Banda is 25 years old and has been at Lecce since 2022, when he made the transfer from Maccabi Petah Tikva for €2m.
The winger made 109 competitive appearances for the Salentini, finding the net nine times with 12 assists.
He also has 22 senior caps for Zambia, where he scored three goals.

What happened
Serie A side Lecce have publicly warned Zambian international Lameck Banda that he will face consequences of his behaviour after the player went AWOL. The club's statement suggests an internal disciplinary matter that could lead to fines, suspension, or other sanctions. Banda, who joined Lecce, now faces an uncertain future at the club following the incident. The situation reflects a breakdown in the relationship between the player and the club.
Chance analysis
Disciplinary AWOL incidents typically carry negative implications for both the player's availability and team morale. For Lecce, losing a squad player to internal discipline reduces tactical options. The public nature of the warning suggests Lecce are prepared to take formal action, which could include transfer listing or contract termination. Prediction systems should note potential unavailability of Banda for upcoming Serie A fixtures.
Lecce face a potential loss of squad depth and internal disruption as Banda's AWOL status likely renders him unavailable and may lead to his departure from the club.
Lecce may be without Lameck Banda for upcoming matches due to ongoing disciplinary action; consider his absence when evaluating Lecce's squad depth.
