Lorenzo Bettoni and Richard Hall return with a new episode of the Football Italia LIVE show to review the weekend action after Serie A Round 1.

The first round of the 2026-27 Serie A campaign is in the history books, with all the top clubs securing victories.

Inter’s rivals all secured victories, although in different fashion. Napoli beat Genoa 2-0 away amid protests from the Grifone over Kevin De Bruyne’s opening goal.

Juventus secured a 1-0 win against Frosinone, but their victory was somewhat overshadowed by Luciano Spalletti’s claims about Randal Kolo Muani.

Last but not least is Roma’s fantastic performance against Fiorentina, which led to a 4-0 win, with a hat-trick from Donyell Malen and three assists from Paulo Dybala.

The Football Italia LIVE Show begins at 14:00 CET [13:00 BST], and you can join it by sending your comments and thoughts.

Chance analysis

The opening round of a new Serie A campaign always sets the tone, and this review highlights a familiar theme: Juventus winning without convincing, Roma flexing early credentials, and the national team picture providing a silver lining. For followers of Italian football, the round offers both reassurance and concern — established powers are winning, but the quality of performances leaves questions open. With European competitions and international breaks looming, Round 1 results will quickly be put into context.
