Thursday’s reports claim that Aleksandar Stankovic is determined to stay and fight for his place under Cristian Chivu at Inter this season, despite reports that the club could look to either sell him or send him out on loan given the other options available in central midfield.

Stankovic wants to fight for his spot at Inter Stankovic, the son of former Inter treble winner Dejan Stankovic, came through the Nerazzurri academy system before being sold to Club Brugge last summer. The youngster impressed with his performances in Belgium and convinced Inter to activate their buy-back option , which cost the Nerazzurri a reported €23m.

Italy regular Nicolo Barella and Turkey captain Hakan Calhanoglu are still expected to be starters in midfield, as is Curtis Jones, who is set to join the Nerazzurri in a €35m deal from Liverpool.

Inter also have solid options in Petar Sucic and Piotr Zielinski, not forgetting experienced veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who signed a contract extension earlier this summer, nor the versatile Andy Diouf, who has been tested at right wing-back during pre-season.

However, according to  the latest updates from Gianluca Di Marzio , Stankovic is determined to fight for his place, even with the arrival of Jones, and is not interested in the idea of going out on loan this coming season.

Di Marzio claims there has been interest from Torino and several other ‘Champions League sides’ abroad that would have been interested in Stankovic had he become available for loan.

What happened

Inter Milan forward Stankovic has made clear his intention to stay at the club and fight for a place in the starting lineup rather than leave on loan. The young player is determined to prove himself under the current coaching setup and sees his future at Inter. This stance could affect Inter's transfer planning as they had reportedly been open to loaning him out for regular playing time.

Chance analysis

Stankovic's public commitment to staying at Inter signals a player unwilling to take the conventional development path of a loan spell. For Inter, the decision complicates squad planning: they now have a young forward who wants minutes but may not be first choice. The situation could either force the coaching staff to integrate him more quickly or create tension if his playing time remains limited.

Impact

Stankovic's decision to stay could increase competition for attacking spots at Inter while complicating the club's options to free minutes or generate a loan fee.
