When will Serie A clubs play in Australia this summer?

Serie A giants Milan, Juventus and Inter, and Serie B side Palermo will be in Perth, Australia, in August for some intriguing summer friendlies.

Only a few months ago, Milan and Como were supposed to fly to the other side of the world to stage the first-ever Serie A match in Australia.

After months of negotiations, the plans collapsed, and the match between the two Lombardy-based clubs was just rescheduled and played in Milan.

Now, the time has finally come for Italian football fans living in Australia to see their idols play right in front of them.

All matches will be played at Optus Stadium, and the first game was the derby della Madonnina between Inter and Milan, which ended 1-1 this afternoon.

Milan were the first team to land in Australia earlier this week, and new coach Ruben Amorim already addressed the media at a press conference.

“They signed me because they felt I was the right guy for the way I want to play,” the Portuguese coach said .

“They want to play the same way, but I think they signed me not just for my success, but also for my experience with a top club like Manchester United and the reflections I shared in our meetings with Mr Cardinale.

“They understood that I was prepared for this job, not just because of my past success, but also because of my failures. I think it helped a lot in those meetings.”

Their match against Juventus on August 8 is much anticipated despite it being just a friendly, as it will be the first time Bianconeri and Nerazzurri will face each other since the controversial Serie A encounter on February 14, 2026, during which Alessandro Bastoni sparked outrage by causing a red card for Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu.

The Juventus defender received a second yellow and was therefore sent off. Still, replays appeared to show that Bastoni went down too easily, deceiving the referee, who couldn’t even have a VAR check, given that he had judged Kalulu’s foul as a second bookable offence.
