Ruben Amorim has confirmed his personnel for Milan’s first pre-season friendly of the summer , and appears to be setting his side up in a 3-4-2-1 for Saturday’s run-out against Celtic in Glasgow.

The Rossoneri continue their pre-season preparations with a visit to Celtic Park, kicking off at 15.00 BST.

The two sides are at different stages of their pre-season campaigns: This is Celtic’s final friendly of the summer before kicking off the Scottish Premiership season. Milan, meanwhile, have almost a month to go until the start of the Serie A season and are still without a number of key first-team players due to their involvement at the 2026 World Cup.

The Rossoneri are without the likes of Mike Maignan, Adrien Rabiot, Luka Modric, Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic for Saturday’s test against Celtic.

This means that Amorim has gone for a mixture of youth and experience in his line-up.

It is a relatively familiar back three of Fikayo Tomori, Matteo Gabbia and Strahinja Pavlovic with Zachary Athekame and Davide Bartesaghi at wing-back. Samuele Ricci partners teenage talent Christian Comotto in midfield, behind an attack made up of Ruben Loftus-Cheek, plus 19-year-olds Lorenzo Ossola and Andrej Kostic.

What happened

AC Milan and Celtic will face off in a pre-season friendly, with both starting line-ups now confirmed. The fixture serves as part of both clubs' pre-season preparations ahead of their respective domestic campaigns. Pre-season friendlies typically see managers experiment with squad players and tactical setups ahead of competitive action.

Chance analysis

Pre-season friendlies carry limited predictive value for upcoming competitive matches, as managers prioritize fitness, tactical experimentation, and squad assessment over results.
