Founded on 15 January 1945 as AS Quévy-le-Grand et Extensions, and reformed after bankruptcy in 2015, the club is nicknamed the Dragons, a reference to the legend of the Ducasse de Mons. RAEC Mons compete in the Belgian Division 1, the third tier of Belgian football.
